Women’s Jeans: 3 Fab Alternatives to Skinny Jeans

Women's Jeans by AG JeansSkinny jeans are considered the end all, be all in the denim world right now, and although they’re very stylish and trendy, there are so many other kinds of women’s jeans out there!  Believe me, these are just as flattering — if not more so.  Not every woman can comfortably wear skinny jeans, after all.  You might not feel comfortable or sexy, depending on your body type.  I know girls and women of all ages and sizes who can really rock skinny jeans, and I applaud them for that, but as a short girl with some curves, I for one just can’t pull off the trend.  However, I absolutely live in jeans.  Does that mean that I have to settle for frumpy, unflattering denim options?  Absolutely not!  From bootcut to flared to straight legged, there are many styles of women’s jeans, and here are three of them you should consider.

Bootcut Women’s Jeans

Here, as you can see, we have bootcut women’s jeans, this pair by AG Jeans.  I love bootcut jeans myself.  They have a subtle flare at the hems, designed to be worn easily over boots, of course, but any shoes look good with bootcut pants.  They fit tight through the thigh all the way down to the knee, and if you buy a pair made of stretch denim, you’ll be amazed at how similar they are to skinny jeans.  I love the fit, because for shorties like me, they can really make your legs look longer and shapely.  They do look gorgeous with boots, but bootcut jeans look especially stellar with high heeled pumps or platforms.  Anything with an extremely pointed toe is going to look extra sexy when worn with jeans like these.

Flared Women’s JeansWomen's Jeans by Rich & Skinny

Next up we have flared women’s jeans, and contrary to popular belief, they are not like bootcut jeans.  Flared jeans have a looser fit, as you can see.  They are a little like bell bottoms — not the bell bottoms of the 1960s and 1970s, but rather like the revival bell bottoms we saw in the late 1990s.  The legs aren’t quite so wide legged, and rather than being completely fitted at the thigh and down to the knee, you have some room to breathe.  Short girls can wear these, but you can’t get them too loose.  If you’ve got long legs, however, you can rock any style.  This pair is from Rich & Skinny, and if you work it the right way, you’ll definitely look like both! They look amazing with boots as well, or with Boho chic sandals.  You can rock the look with high heels, as long as you make sure than your hems won’t get caught on your heels.  That’s always embarrassing — and yeah, I speak from experience.

Last but most certainly not least, you can also experiment with straight legged women’s jeans.  These are the most similar to skinny jeans, but they’re not quite so tightly fitted and they do leave some things up to the imagination.  If you’re just not confident or comfortable in super skinny jeans but still like the general style and silhouette, then straight legged jeans like this pair by CJ By Cookie Johnson make an excellent compromise.  If you want to wear your calf length Uggs over your jeans, you can still do that.  However, the ankles are fuller so you can also wear high heeled pumps or even stilettos with a little more coverage.

The point is that you can find plenty of women’s jeans that will make you feel sexy and confident even if you don’t like skinny jeans.  Check out the various styles, experiment, and find out what fits you best.  It’s not like your only choices are skinny jeans and mom jeans.  There’s a whole world of denim out there!
